Composite restorations What are composite restorations? Composite restorations or "white fillings" as they are sometimes referred to are resin based restorative materials. Composite restorations are great for aesthetics as they match the colour of your teeth, making them near impossible to detect. Composite restorations are strong, durable and relatively inexpensive. Composite restorations can sometimes also be referred to as composite "bonding's" and these can be used as an alternative to porcelain veneers and look just as good, they are less invasive then porcelain veneers because the surface of the tooth is only roughened so that the composite material will stick as opposed to being "cut back" when doing porcelain veneers. The composite bonding's are also an instant cosmetic procedure and are relatively inexpensive in comparison with porcelain veneers. However Composite bonding's are not forever and need to be done every 5-10years depending on the individual. |
